Discrimination Against "Emos"
Posted March 27, 2008 at 11:28 AM

I just don't get it! One of my friends, her name is Jessica, decided to dye her hair black. You know, it looked really cute, so i complimented her on it, and she said I hope everyone else likes it! I figure a lot of people would like her hair considering she's really pretty and she always gets compliments on the way she looks. I was wrong. When this kid named Stevan saw it on lunch time, he tore of the little metal piece of the soda can, i don't know what its called, but the little piece you use to open the can, he handed it to her and said have fun cutting yourself, her new nickname is now emo girl, is it just me or does anybody else see something wrong with that? how the heck can you go and discriminate somebody because they have a certain hair color? I just don't get it, i mean i'm ussed to seeing kids laugh at kids cuz their fat or cuz their gay, but hair color? That's a little extreme!  Kids are so mean, I don't want to be around them most of the time. Discrimiantion of all sorts needs to stop!! Maybe one day it will.

Thank you.Someone who actually understands.I have a friend who is about the greatest girl you'll ever meet. She's nice, caring, smart, and pretty. But she's always wearing black clothes and black nail polish and skulls/crossbonez, so people always call her emo. One day I decided to paint my nails black, and I temporary died some of my hair red. I got black Converse and drew these cool stars on my trapper, and suddenly rumors went around that I was emo. I'm not; but just because I was going for a new look got me a rep of the "emo genius" (I'm a former teacher's pet) and now I can't leave my trapper at my desk when I leave my seat because people draw cuts and write 'emo' on it over and over.

I never even thought about this; I'm adding discrimination to my list. :-) It feels good to vent. Thanks.

Your Welcome and remember, your not alone, a lot of people go through it each day me included, hopefully, one day it will stop cuz no one deserves to get judged.

dude try going through high school fighting major depression and ptsd (i finally got a diagnosis this year. yay!).  i have been afraid to tell people because i don't want the bloody tag of 'emo' which technically is short for emotional and don't we all have emotions? just a thought. but yea i need the love and support of all of my friends and i can only tell 5 of them partially what i am going through. its so stupid. but the annoying, truly annoying, thing is that 99% of people feel this way, its just they think that no one else does so the but up the bull crap veneer and make the honest ones hate themselves for being honest.
