The Trial of Sean Bell" Racial Profiling AGAIN??
Posted February 27, 2008 at 7:31 AM

I was outraged when I first heard the story of Sean Bell . The bottom line is cops fired 50 UNECESSARY shots at 3 "minority" men who were UNARMED resulting in the killing of one!

For my public speaking class years ago I had chosen to do a persuasive speech on Amadou Diallo and the  unnecessary firing of 41shots at this unarmed man. Though the NYPD Street Crime Unit was disbanded after this, ALL FOUR plainsclothes officers involved got the trial moved upstate and THEY WERE ACQUITTED OF ALL CHARGES! All the protesting and outrage by the public and they still were let go so should it really be surprising that a couple of years later we are in a similar scenario.

They say Sean Bell crashed into the police van but does that warrant the firing of 50 shots, of emptying thier clips and then reloading and firing again at these three men in the car??

One officer Oliver fired 31 shots meaning he had to reload his clip! How could that be self defense? How was he still "fearing for his "life"? Did he not think the first round of fire did not at least incapacitate the "suspects"?? IF he is convicted he only faces a YEAR in prison!! Now let us ask ourselves is that justice? Where do we draw the line?

They have opted to not have a jury so it is all in the hands of ONE judge. We can protest all we want but at the end of the day it is out of our hands. We can only sit back and hope that justice will be served...

Any thoughts on this??
