For those of you who went and saw the movie Stop-Loss, should know what I'm saying. I went to see this movie Stop-Loss looking to see what I would learn and how I would feel about it. I knew that I had to see the movie, it was almost like a gut instinct. The movie was incredible, not only did I learn a lot but, I also found a great respect for the people whose story that Stop-Loss was based upon. For those of you who did not go see it, the movie is about soliders fighting in the war in Iraq and how when they come home they get stop lossed, which is when they are sent back to fight without voluntarily re-enlisting and completeing their tour and fulfilling their contract. Throughout the movie there were so many emotions running through my mind. It was a movie that you could not just feel one thing or even see it one-dimensionally. The statistics that they showed at the end were unbelievable. 650,000 soliders were called to duty; 81,000 were stop lossed; 30,000 more soliders were called to duty by the President. Overall the movie was amazing, it showed things that we don't normally get to see, for me I was able to get at least one glimps or one emotion into a tiny portion of what our soliders go through. I don't say this to be hurtful, mean, or any other things. I say this because for me it ws a great experience and hopefully others are able to go see it and maybe learn something that they did not know before seeing the movie.
