Why My High School Should have a Newspaper
Posted April 15, 2008 at 6:12 PM

My high school, Hackett Catholic Central, should have a newspaper not only because of it’s amazing education, but because of how it is preparing all of its students for college and doing that in a safe and religious educational environment.  Hackett should get to have a newspaper because of how much it cares.  Hackett students give 20+hrs per year to their families, communities, school, church, and neighborhoods, a grand total of 80+hrs for all four years.  Students are required to do this, but take great enjoyment from doing the service.  Some students even give up their spring breaks to go down to Louisiana to help restore homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.  Hackett cares greatly not only about its community, but also about its country.  Although Hackett gives it’s students as many opportunities as it can, there are things that unfortunately, Hackett cannot provide, a paper. However, it is not as if there was never a paper at Hackett, I know that at one point there was a paper, but because of lack of interest from the students, it went under.  Not to put the same thought into your head, but just to say that there was a paper and I would be honored to bring that same spunk, and drive back to Hackett and maybe even boost the school’s moral through writing and through it’s paper.  The school has amazingly talented students, however there is no way to neither show the talent nor give recognition to the students who have achieved something great.   So I hope that you will be able to help and give Hackett back its school spirit and moral by giving it a paper.  Thank you.
