Introducing 'View from Indiana'
Posted February 20, 2008 at 11:09 AM

A few months back some collegues and I were meeting in an upstairs room of a house in Indianapolis discussing the Indiana news of late. The big topic of discussion that night was property taxes - something that had spun out of control in our great state. A new reassessment system had been ordered, and some people's taxes had went up over 300 percent.

As we spoke about the issues, we debated, we argued, we agreed, and we came up with an idea - The Indiana View. We would discuss local issues and put it on the internet. Why hadn't someone come up with this at the national level? Oh wait ...

As many great ideas sometimes become bigger in our imagination than our bodies are willing to carry out, this idea got tucked into the back closet of my mind, and now I'm ready to make it reality. I've spent a lot of time preparing this, and think I've finally grouped together the perfect mix of four personalities.

First, is Chris Spangle. Chris is a local radio producer for a conservative/libertarian station in Indianapolis. He attended Indiana University Purdue University in Indianapolis, and he is 24 years old.

Second, is Katie Arnold. She is a social work student at Indiana University in Indianapolis. She is currently working in a practicum for Planned Parenthood of Indiana.

Third, is Bryan Miller. He is a political science student at Butler University in Indianapolis. Originally from Terre Haute, he has volunteered for and had internships with many Democratic politicians in that area. He currently volunteers and supports Hillary Clinton's campaign.

Last but not least, is me - Whitney Allen. I have studied journalism, public relations, and music at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. I work full time as a creative director for Tenacity, Inc. a media company based out of Lebanon, Ind. And, I am lucky enough to be working with MTV to bring the news of Indiana to you. I have volunteered for both the Republican and Libertarian parties in Indiana.

So there we have it, two females, two males. Two conservatives, two liberals. I will be posting at least one, sometimes two "episodes" each month. If you have any suggestions for topics you would like to hear about, please email me and let me know!

Get ready! The first episode will be here in one week!
