A sea of pink washed over the streets of DC and Maryland as 3,500 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer participants took a break from their normal weekend routines to walk 39 miles over two days.  They raised over $8.1 million, money that will benefit breast cancer research institutions as well as local organizations that provide care for uninsured women.  Reese Witherspoon was on hand during the second day of the event to cheer on walkers as they finished their journey.

There was a lot of cheering, plenty of hugs and a few tears for those who could only be there in spirit.  The atmosphere was one of hope, strength and unity.
