Everyone seems to be worried about the price of gas these days. But could fast food waste grease be the answer to our fuel problems?
I recently sat down with Brian Krohn, a chemistry major at Augsburg College. For the past few years, Brian has been researching how to produce biodiesel more effectively. As it turns out, the traditional method is pretty expensive, and creates a soap-like waste. Brian's research has led to the "Mcgyan Process" which is a new, more efficient way to make biodiesel. Not only does it cost less than the traditional method, but there is no waste and you can use practically any oil.
So perhaps there will one day come a time when you will be able to stop by your favorite fast food place to get a hamburger and fuel your car all in one trip!
