VIDEO:  Pride in San Francisco

Home to one of the most vibrant and diverse queer communities in the US, it is no surprise that San Francisco boasts one of the world's largest Gay Pride Parades. I spent the morning watching the parade and speaking with a couple of young people about why they turned out to support this community.

Love, love, love this video! The issue of gay rights is extremely important to me as one of my best friends is gay. He knew in 7th grade that he was gay but because we grew up in a small farming community just outside of Boise, where the majority of the town's population just wouldn't have been okay with his sexual preference, he did not "come out" until our freshman year of college. I can't imagine what it would have been like to live in that hell, not feeling comfortable enough with yourself to let your best friend in on your "secret." Thanks for covering a topic that I think is so important.

I just wonder why so many people are against gay marriage? I'm angered by their narrow minds and bigotry. Why do they care and how does it affect them personally? I've never heard a real answer to this question.
