VIDEO:  Power for the Powerless : California's New Immigrant Voice

With increased media coverage of the national immigration debate it has become more difficult for young people to navigate the media messages they receive and formulate their own ideas and opinions around the issue. A young poet in San Jose California, Yosimar Reyes, is helping high school students navigate these confusing messages in a safe and fun environment free of judgment.

Another great video, Carl. Art is so undervalued in American society these days. Glad to see people doing creative things for social commentary. This just shows me how much I need to be in Cali.
Re: CarlDBrown 494 days ago
Thanks Patrick, it's true there are a lot of good things happening in California, but it also has it's own unique set of problems... racial inequality being a major one in most cities

Carl this video is incredible!!! I'm certainly going to pass this on to a lot of people in the pro-migrant blogosphere. Congrats on getting picked up by the Associated Press. I don't know about the title they changed it to, though.

I think it not fair that anyone can come over to america. I think the mexican people should stay in there country. Half the the mexican people are in the jail house. There is more mexican in the jail house the white people. If people want to live like the way we do in american they should make their country like american and not send the whole entire population of mexico to american. People say mexican work harder then american but we earned a right to be lazy and should not have to compete with mexican workers. Mexican people just send the money they make back to mexico and support there families.
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay brilliant

Another awesome video Carl. I think I probably watch at least two of your videos each week to learn new camera/video/storytelling techniques. Your videos are really incredible!
Re: CarlDBrown 425 days ago
That means a lot thank you, remember I have been at this for a few years, it took me countless hours to become comfortable and proficient with shooting, editing and most importantly story telling... Keep up the good work! cb
