Last week, Congress enacted the $288 Farm Bill, despite a veto by President Bush. The Farm Bill offers subsidies and permanent disaster aid for agriculture workers, but also provides money for conservation programs, nutritional programs in schools, and billions of dollars for the national Food Stamp program.
