My election experience kicked off with Tenancious D and the Beastie Boys at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, Colorado. Adrock stood in front of the Fillmore crowd and told patrons to hold one finger in the air, he said, "This is your voting finger." Then the crowd cooed "freeeeessssssh," then the bass beat dropped to "Ch-Check It Out" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wddY7qCn-ig&feature=related.
There were about 3,000 young people who were ready to vote or had already voted at the Fillmore.
With the polls closing on the East Coast, polls will be open for another hour and a half here in Colorado. The Beastie Boys were out rocking the vote on election day in Colorado and they hit Boulder this afternoon with dorm storms. This evening they will be in Fort Collins knocking on campus doors and hittin an Obama party in Denver.
Nearly 65% of people have already voted in Colorado, that is solely early voting statistics and not actual election day statistics.
The Beastie Boys were partnering with the non-profit, Rock the Vote, which has been hitting the battle ground states in the general election's final days. They've registered about 2.5 million voters across the country this election year.
MCA said it best at the Rock the Vote concert, "It's your choice, but as my momma said don't boo, just go out and vote."
Go out and vote.
