Obama, McCain Win Big In Vermont’s Presidential Contests...

 

On the heels of an incredible turn out, Senators John McCain and Barack Obama won their respective primaries Tuesday by huge margins.

 

McCain drew 70% of Republican support, while 60% of Democrats cast ballots for Obama.

 

McCain’s sweep of Vermont, Ohio, Texas and Rhode Island last night, pushed him over the top in the race for delegates, securing the nomination and finally knocking-off Gov. Mike Huckabee,

 

Obama’s win in Vermont was his only of the night, with Sen. Hillary Clinton picking up big wins in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island.  Her success shifts momentum a bit to the Clinton camp, and prolongs this historic primary.

 

Democrats have to worry that without a clear mandate, a long drawn-out contest could hurt the party’s ability to unite behind one candidate. Also, with delegate counts so close, the fight to seat Florida and Michigan’s delegates is most certainly looming in the not so distant future. And let’s not forget about the real possibility of that the Democratic nominee may be chosen in back room filled with smoke, and super delegates...
