VIDEO:  The "Alternative" Alternative Energy

Looking for an alternative energy source with zero emissions and zero dependence on fossil fuels? Well, there's nothing more counter-culture than skateboarding, longboarding, or bike riding to cut costs and help our climate in crisis. I headed over the University of Delaware to talk to young skaters and bikers about their wheels of change.

I would have to say that part of the reason Delaware has a high energy usage compared to the population is because this place is a tourist area. Now, if Delawareans could produce hemp again, we would be much better off. I don't worry about the CO2 that much, if you think there is to much, stop breathing to help. From burning diesel particles are put into the air that directly cause lung cancer to I believe it was around 10,000 a year nationwide(not 100%on that number) which can be linked to the burning of diesel. Now when mixed with bio-fuels(that can be produced from hemp in higher quantites, along with about 2000+ other things) it can drop pollution by up to 40%. This is partly the reason we are using a 10% ethanol mix in our gasoline, to help lower the emissions. The only thing is that corn is a horrible producer of ethanol, whereas other plants like switch grass and hemp(long cellulose plants) can produce much high quantities for less. Hemp requires no spraying which helps to keeps our bays, tributaries, and other waterways much safer to our wonder fish and wildlife.
