Delaware may be the First State, but for the University of Delaware College Democrats and other active students trying to get out the vote - it's not the first priority. This morning nearly 200 College Democrats marched up to Philadelphia, PA to campaign for Barack - like Balboa running up the steps of the Art Museum. As part of a college to college initiative, UD Dems will try to convince their neighboring students at Drexel and Temple Universities to bring a big win for Barack.
In contrast, very little is going on at the Newark University of Delaware campus. Two nearby polling places, Newark High School and the Newark Public Library, have each seen about 300 votes cast today. Although some students came out to vote - more might be chilled by the rain and the true "Blue" nature of the state.
But is Delaware really that "Blue?" According to the latest WHYY poll Obama leads McCain by 18 percentage points. Yes, it is a considerable lead, but Delaware voters who believe their vote won't count - shouldn't get the blues. In politics, anything can happen on Any Given Tuesday, and you never know who will rock out - or get knocked out.
