Hello Denzel, first, I want to commend you on your remembering others in the height of your career. This is not a sike game to play in your head, but, on the real, you're my guy. I love your acting. Look, Denzel, we've got a problem here in our city, I know that you ae "pro" Boys and Girls Club, fan, but would you consider, maybe, there are others programs as affective, if given the chance. If someone, who had the connection to make things happen would get aboard.
I am the founder of a mentoring program called, Big Dad, visit my website at: www.bigad4.com The reason, I am writing you Denzel is because I agree with your statement on thsi site about the importance of our children knowing that someone cares about them. This is the problem, the Boys and Girls Clubs here in Peoria, Illinois has closed its doors to its' youths in a high crime neighborhood and the youth are left out on the streets with no place to go. One of the youth said, and I quote,..."The reason we play with guns is because there's nothing else to play with". I am not making an excuse for their behavior, but the youth has a point. I have been housing my program in a church, my program has a basketball program, I have to pay, $75.00 an hr. out of my pocket to use to facility. Usually, I sponsored games out in neighboring parks, but this neighborhood, needs something for its youths.BAD! I visit the youth there and they look for my visits but it takes moe than just a visit. Our City Counselman At-Large, Eric Turner stated, at a Ralley I hosted after a youth had been gunned down in another neighborhood, much simular to this one and I quote, "Big Dad has touched the lives of these youths in this city in a way that no other program has." All that talk is good, But,I need the club,Denzel,I need to raise the money to be able to buy that Boys & Girls Club and I can show this city. How to save our youth. the ole club has relocated to a low crime rate area, good, but what about the yuoth in the other areas. Any way, they've agreed to rent or sell me the old club. MAn, am I excited, but I do not have to means, now. But God will bless me to raise the money if I get celebrities as yourself, though you've been a sponsor of the club since your youth, I just need endorsors to help get Big Dad up and on the map. My program targets "high-risk" youth. Think about it sir, look over the website and email me and let me know at least you looked at the site, When I mentor youth I would like to be able to get them out of theri environment, maybe a chance to meet celebrities, a chance to see what the world outside of their projects looks like. I've acquired so much knowledge of real situations withthese youth, I started to write a drama called, "In the Name of my Father."
Thanks, Denzel, Rev. Earnest Rodgers SR.

This is a poem from my book, "From Hell and Back"

A Child Does Tell the Whole Story

The anger rages
The shouts roar
Lashing out on all who pass, I will hurt you
These are all cries from a beaten and abused child

You are so mean
You don't understand
You said it, so you meant it
These are all cries from a condemned and abused child

I want it now
I hate you
Give me this or I will scream
These are all cries of a spoiled and abused child

The heart cries
The pain is too much
Stay away from me, don't come too close
These are cries from a lonely and abused child

You should try this
This is great
What are you scared or just too tense, what do you mean you take offense
These are all cries of a mislead and abused child

I want you so bad
I need you now
Don't you want me, am I not good enough
These are all cries of a desperate and confused, sexually abused child

It does not matter
What ever you want
Can I help you, what do you need
These are cries of a subservient and abused child

A child does tell the whole story
We just need to listen
These cries may come in variation
But none should be, a Child’s disputation

When a child goes astray, the first one we need to look at is ourselves
We, as a society, allow parents to get away with this abuse
We don't read the signs
To simplify our own lives and to avoid looking at ourselves
We allow the excuses from parents, that it is not their fault
Parents need to face the responsibility that they have to their children
These things don't just happen
Children are simply a product of their environment
We as a society, need to do our part and read the signs and stop the madness
Stop these neglectful and abusive parents
Yes, it requires time, effort and energy
Yes, sometimes our days are long and we don’t feel up to it
Nothing good comes easy, this applies to being parents too
We put the time in for promotions, for our hobbies and our friends
Let's put the time into the most important part of our lives, our children
They are our future, the world's future
It is our job to raise our children to be a productive part of society
To be sociably acceptable, to know how to handle life with it's up and down
How to handle its trials and tribulations
How to celebrate and appreciate the good things in life
And most of all how to love and be good parents

I love you
Let's play, let's have some fun
I will share, can I help
Read me a story, now it's my turn
You are my best friend, when I grow up, I want to be just like you
These are the words of a well raised and loved child
A child does tell the whole story
We just need to listen
