Idaho's aspiring Senatorial candidates

Okay, since I dedicated an entire piece last week to Pro-Life, Idaho’s eccentric United States Senate candidate, I thought it would only be fair to dedicate one blog, at least, to the rest of the candidates.  After all, it wouldn’t be fair and balanced to pay an incredible amount of attention to only one candidate while casually ignoring all of those who compete with him or her!

First, we’ll start with the Democrats because it’s a short list.  In this race we’ve got only David Archuleta (not the same guy that is on American Idol) from Fort Hall, Idaho, and Larry LaRocco, a Democratic household name in the state.

LaRocco is hands-down the Democrats’ best chance at flipping this seat.  He brings a long resume to the table, rivaled only by his chief competitor and former interim governor Jim Risch in experience and status in Idaho politics.  LaRocco got his start in Idaho decades ago, working for former Senator Frank Church, arguably Idaho’s most famous Democrat, who ran for president in 1976 after four terms in the United States Senate.  Church was defeated in the primary battle against Jimmy Carter and returned to the Senate until 1981.  LaRocco has also served in the United States House of Representatives, elected first in 1990 and re-elected in 1992, only to be defeated by Republican Helen Chenoweth in 1994 as
