Should domestic partners receive state benefits?

I sat down with two local proponents of a Moscow, Idaho resolution that gives domestic parners of city employees the same benefits coverage as the city employees, despite the state's recent Constitutional amendment banning the recognition of any union between adults other than traditional heterosexual marriage.  Many Idaho residents are threatening to sue the Moscow City Council over the resolution, though proponents say that a simple rewording of the resolution, if necessary, can get around any legal issues with the resolution.
