After many, many months of peaceful coexistence, Atlanta Police decided to crack down on the traffic violations inherent in monthly Critical Mass bike rides. Just in time, a number of cyclists had organized a counterpart ride -- "Courteous Mass" -- in which riders keep to the right, occupying at most one lane, stop for red lights, and obey all traffic laws. Time will tell whether this placates angry drivers or City Hall.
