Here is an interesting tid-bit about alcohol sales on Election Day in Kentucky:
Since voting polls will be open, from the hours of 6am until 6pm alcohol cannot be sold. Kentucky Revised Statute 244.480 says the state “prohibits the sale of malt beverages on any primary or regular election day during the hours the polls are open.”
Kentucky Revised Statute 244.290 states “A premises that is licensed to sell distilled spirits or wineat retail shall not be permitted to remain open during the hours the polls are open on any regular or primary election day unless the licensee provides a separate locked department in which all stock of distilled spirits and wine are kept during the hours the polls are open”.
So let this be a warning for all Kentuckians:
Choose you’re candidates wisely because you won’t be able to drink yourself into a stupor to forget about mistakes you’ve made at the polls.
Oh, and that bottle of tequila won’t be helping you make your decisions this morning either.
Cheers (with a glass of orange juice with a twist… or a stiff cup ‘o’ coffee) to sober voting!
