Good morningKentuckyand happy primary day!
I work the night shift and my coworkers have been talking about the primaries all night long… but it isn’t about the excitement of voting, or the fact thatKentuckymatters this year.
People are talking about how annoyed they are by phone calls that they’ve been getting from the various campaigns. Not only has the Hillary camp been hitting the bluegrass hard, but local and state runners have been clogging up phone lines at record paces too.
One woman even said she received eight phone calls yesterday alone… not to mention the countless calls she’s received all week. When I asked her if this would motivate her to go to the polls, she said no, but she would go vote today… if she remembered. So, perhaps hitting the phone lines isn’t the best way to persuade perspective voters.
The second topic of discussion was rain. Our cities, state, and country is waiting in the balance of voters, and we’re talking about weather! It is quite disgusting inLexingtonthis morning with rain blowing in sporadically from all sides.
How will this weather affect the vote? Instead of worrying about voting during lunch breaks, some colleagues of mine are taking “rain breaks” to go vote. What a finicky bunch!
I’ve been watching all three centralKentuckynews stations this morning and today’s primary ranks fourth on each rundown. Each morning show lead with weather, then went on to a fatal shooting that happened overnight, next was a not-so-spectacular warehouse fire, and finally onto the primaries.
I understand that breaking news is now, and it would be an injustice to the people if we didn’t cover disasters that happened overnight, but after hearing about the primaries in every news show for three weeks… I expected something more.
Central Kentucky’s primary footage looks like a Hillary campaign ad. AClintonhas been in the bluegrass at least once a week for the past month. They’re really hittingKentuckyhard, especially since we have 61 super delegates up for grabs.
I think there was a Barack sighting sometime last week, but the coverage paled in comparison with theClintonbrigade. Michelle Obama was in the state yesterday campaigning for her husband, but it seemed like a weak after-thought.
It’s no doubt that I think Hillary Clinton will sweepKentuckytoday. I’m convinced she’ll take it by storm.
After work, I am going to try to find a group of Obama supporters, some Republicans, and in the process, I will run into drones of Hillary fans. There are “Hillary Hoot ‘n’ Holler” gatherings set up all over the state today, and I am bound and determined to run into one.
So, good morningKentucky, and as dawn breaks I hope you’re going to the polls! I will see you there!
