The Race to Win the Primaries

Super Tuesday rolled into Connecticut and without too many surprises the winners of the Presidential primary were named. John McCain won for the Republicans, and a close vote for the Democrats went to Barak Obama, who
won by a tiny margin over Clinton.
The candidates came prepared to the state of Connecticut setting up rallies the weekend before Super Tuesday. John McCain held his in Fairfield at Sacred Heart University, word came in right as McCain’s rally ended that John Kerry was in the state down the street to spread his support for Barak Obama. Kerry first stopped off at a church in Bridgeport, then quickly made an appearance in New Haven, conducting a speech on the front lawn of the New Haven superintendent of school’s home.
The next day Barak Obama was speaking in Hartford, and no one could have predicted the amount of people that showed up for him. In no way did the crowd that showed up for McCain even slightly compare to the thousands that showed up to see Obama. On that same day but in the late evening, Chelsea Clinton was in Hartford to throw her mother support and host the Connecticut town hall meeting for Hillary Clinton. Clinton showed up live on a television screen and hosted twenty three states for a Q & A session the night before the primaries in each of those states.
Overall, the few days before the primaries were a huge deal in Connecticut. With such a monumentally historic year upon us, the recognition these candidates gave to this small state came with great admiration to the presidential hopefuls who took the time to give the attention to Connecticut which for the most always gets looked over.
