I find myself in the middle of Hartford’s west end at a dimly lit pizza restaurant. I ended up here after scouring the streets and local spots to find where the politically active youths may hide. Let me just tell you, they sure hide. So I’m here , but I don’t find this as another disappointment, I have gained access to the television and have flipped through the channels to find the state coverage on the primary elections. So if I can’t find the political activists I will at least try to leave an impression on the few patrons here.

I have spent most of my day traveling though Connecticut looking for people who have something to say. Surprisingly, I encountered a lot more young republicans than anything else, other than independents and the basic complaint that they are unable to vote due to Connecticut’s closed primary.
Earlier in the day I went into a college bookstore and approached a young girl who was working behind the counter. I asked her if she was into politics, she said no. So I pressed the issue and asked if she knew anything about the upcoming presidential elections and asked if she wanted to say something for MTV. Her eyes lit up and she hesitantly agreed and then asked me for a minute so she could think of something to say. So she ran this idea past me: “I’m going to vote for McCain, cause America is not ready for a woman president and not ready for a Muslim in the white house, cause Barak got sworn in on the Koran and that is just not right”, she wanted to make sure she didn’t look stupid. Now I’m not one to judge but I thanked her for her for time and proceeded to the door.
This is a lot of what I was encountering.
So right now I sit here in the restaurant hoping to get people to think about what’s going on today.
