VIDEO:  Sagging Pants Ban (Should Politicians or Schools Care?)

The Birmingham City Council is considering a ban on wearing pants that sag below the waist level, exposing skin or underwear. Many young citizens are upset that their freedom to choose their fashion is being threatened. A local activist asked the Birmingham City Council and mayor Larry Langford to consider banning saggy pants. The council has not acted on the request which was made by Kamau Afrika, who wants offenders to pay fines and "do street clean-up in pink pajamas."

WHO CARES ABOUT BAGGY PANTS, BAN MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES!
what you wear is a personal choice, its as if they are banning somebodys freedom of speach. If politicians and schools are concernded about kids wearing baggy clothing they obviously have too much time on their hands. I guess they have to complain about something right?

I appreciate your thoughts on politicians potentially governing fashion.

It's always controversial when local lawmakers make laws that seem to target a particular group. I really understand what the young woman said about wishing lawmakers would be more involved in her education, rather than fashion choices of her classmates. I wish I better understood the overall goal of having these young men not sag their pants. Will it decrease violence? Probably not. Will it make them more studios? Probably not. Apparently it can't even force them into the community service since they can pay a fine to get out of it. It seems like an waste of energy that could be put into something that might actually help the people progress...
