[September 24, 2008] Thousands of Endangered Watercress Darter fish were killed when Regina Nummy, the director of the Roebuck-Hawkins Park authorized the removal of a beaver dam which drained the pond and habitat for this beautiful endangered species that is found in Alabama and nowhere else in the world. This federal crime is still under investigation. Nummy authorized city officials to remove the dam because it was flooding the four tennis courts. The city of Birmingham is also under investigation. A representative from the city said that they have orders not to go into the creek or spray pesticides near it.
