We finally have the answer to the question I’ve been asking all day: Who do you think the next President will be? It turns out that students in Tucson, Ariz. were on the nose when they answered Barack Obama.
The University of Arizona’s Graduate Student Council hosted a watch party at The Shanty--a popular bar close to campus. When CNN announced Obama as the presumed victor, the packed room erupted. The floor was practically shaking from men and women jumping up and down. One man slowly started chanting “Barack Obama,” and within a few rounds the entire bar joined in. People actually started crying tears of joy. One couple found enough space to dance. More than 120 graduate students and their friends looked more like kids on Christmas morning than young adults watching the election results. In the group I couldn’t track down a single McCain supporter, and Obama seemed to be the shiny new bike The Shanty patrons were thrilled to see under the tree.
