On June 9, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), a former presidential candidate for the Democratic Party, introduced 35 articles of impeachment for the removal of President George W. Bush. The resolution was read well through midnight, taking the House clerk roughly four hours to read from start to beginning. Many have called the resolution divisive, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who has stated she would not support it.
In Texas, considered the home state of the president, some groups are supporting that resolution as well as calls to end the War in Iraq. The Tarrant County Green Party has been collecting signatures every Wednesday at the steps of the Fort Worth Municipal Court in order to encourage the city council to pass a resolution calling for the impeachment of the president and vice president.
