She didn't insinuate that it most definitely was the will of the Lord. She was making a comment that those who do pray and follow Yahweh should ask for guidance as to what the will of the Lord is in this endeavor.

Why have so many Christians fallen in love with war? God, why? All who truly follow Jesus Christ need to reject the injustice of war and realize that the Government is inherently evil, God warned Israel when they wanted a king that a king would take the best lands for himself oppress them tax them and bring them never ending war and conquests. Yet despite His warnings they still wanted to be like the other nations of the world and have a king. Christians are marching down the same path, ignoring the clear warning and bowing down to the will George W. Bush and the Neo-conservative regime. And it's not just a Republican thing, the Obama/Biden ticket is no better. So please America, especially Christians wake up to the reality, that our foreign policy is NOT pleasing to God, that our wars are NOT just, and that asking God to bless our wars is wrong and claiming that our wars are part of His will is Blasphemy.

LFP, those are really good points. Now, allow me to throw you a curve ball. Have you ever heard of the concept of divine sanction versus divine permission? Divine sanctions are God's initial laws that He laid down for us to follow, like the Ten Commandments (not exclusively, though). When God's people continually ignored many of His rules like one wife per husband or slavery or war, God set out divine permissions by which humans could govern themselves at least with some parameters when they were participating in these acts. In the case of slavery, God also consistently made sure to stress the human equality of slaves to their masters and also put an emphasis on slaves eventually gaining their freedom. Note that the Hebrews are reminded in the Torrah that they were once slaves in Egypt and treated terribly, so they were admonished never to act like that to others. As far as war is concerned, God laid out many directives in this divine permission: use diplomacy first to try and work out skirmishes between other nations, give the enemy time to surrender, allow all men who are too scared to fight to go home, allow newly wed men one year at home before going into battle, use military v. military initiatives if diplomacy doesn't work (none of this going to a market place to kill innocent civilians), and take care of the widows and orphans of the enemy nation after their defeat.

So, yes, ideally God doesn't want any of His kids to fight and kill each other. But since we live in this fallen world, God provides a plan B or C, etc.

Well first off your saying "when God's people continually ignored many of his rules." Why should we continually ignore God's rules and only obey parameters? 1 Peter 1:15-17 "But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy."Since you call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear." The purpose of man is to know God and to bring God glory. The only way to know God and to glorify God is to know and follow Jesus Christ. And how are people to know we are followers of Jesus Christ? In John 13:34-35 Jesus said:"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

How can we be holy as God is holy and show love like Christ if we will not even acknowledge truth. We have bought into lies that breed hate. We have chosen to serve our country and government rather than our God, we cannot serve two masters. We should not sell out on holiness, and try to excuse our actions as justifiable. We honor murderers with metals and mock pacifists and peace makers. One could argue wars are necessary in our broken world. "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2 "Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord." Hebrews 12:14
War is the way of the world and peace is the way of God. To give a perfect example of how unnecessary war is, and how vital wisdom is take a look at Ecclesiastes 9:13-18
"I also saw under the sun this example of wisdom that greatly impressed me: There was once a small city with only a few people in it. And a powerful king came against it, surrounded it and built huge siegeworks against it. Now there lived in that city a man poor but wise, and he saved the city by his wisdom. But nobody remembered that poor man. So I said, "Wisdom is better than strength." But the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are no longer heeded.
The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded
than the shouts of a ruler of fools.

Wisdom is better than weapons of war,
but one sinner destroys much good."

I hope that helps, thanks for the curve ball by the way helps me sharpen my faith and delve deeper into the Word of God, "iron sharpens iron." If you don't mind I think I'm going to post this on the Christians for Peace club.
