In the past four days, I booked a ticket to Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP), pleaded with my Dad to forgive me for missing a family vacation -- and prayed to the Gods that everything would work out. So far so good.
I
got
myself
into
this
whole
thing
while
I
watched
the
Democratic National Convention with
my
roommate.
All
of
a
sudden,
endorphins
and
adrenaline
engulfed
me
whole
–
similar
to
other
moments
during
this
election
when
I
realize
how
unbelievably
historic
this
time
will
be
remembered
as.
Before
I
knew
it
I
was
comparing
flights
on
Orbitz
and
Expedia
and
–
Boom!
–
at
the
tune
of
a lot of dollars,
booked
a
ticket
to
the
Republican National Convention.
With
fists
pumping
I
chanted
“I’m
going
to
a
CONVENTION!!”
Over the next three days, and leading to this blog post, I have been scrambling to set everything up. First: a place to crash, shower and recoup. A facebook status update did wonders and I had friends from all over make suggestions. Finally, on advice from the College Republicans, I got a dorm room at Concordia University in St. Paul. Only three miles from Xcel, where the Convention will be happening – it sounds like a perfect spot to call home base.
Probably the best part of this all – though – is that I will be doing live mobile-to-web reports throughout the Convention. Like the Street Teamers in Denver, we will be airing on-the-spot reports from rallies, meetings, diners and dorm rooms. I was so curious when 23 of my colleagues took on this technology on Super Tuesday. It goes without saying, I am super psyched to test this technology.
Well, back to packing. I am hoping my flights go well and I make it to the Twin Cities on time. One this is for sure – this is going to be a ride of a lifetime.
