VIDEO:  Wrigley Field: The Name Change is Striking Out

Despite Chicago being a major metropolitan area, there is a lot of tradition here especially when it comes to our sports and baseball teams. This past week, chaos erupted in Wrigleyville after Sam Zell, owner of the Tribune Company and Wrigley Field said he would not hesitate to sell the name of the park. Zell no! I think this goes into a larger conversation about landmark buildings in Chicago. The Trib did a piece on that earlier in the week. It's ironic that there's such opposition to a corporate name for...WRIGLEY Field. That said, the only thing that needs to change about the ballpark are the troughs in the men's room.

Good piece, Illinois!

Great piece, Jackie. Not only can Sam Zell continue to ruin Tribune Company's cheapskate newspaper chain; he's also going to ruin one of Chicago's most historic landmarks. Don't be surprised when the bring your own cooler policy is nixed next and ticket prices rise even further. After all, baseball is not a game meant to be enjoyed by regular Americans, right? It's an aristocratic sport best enjoyed from the comforts of a corporate skybox.
