With opening day less than one week away, the battle over Wrigley getting renamed is no closer to being resolved. In this second video, your Illinois Street Team reporter, Jacqueline Ingles, takes a closer look at why real estate mogul Sam Zell is going to sell Wrigley Field and the team separately--his Tribune Co, has a $13 billion debt. Zell hopes to rescue his newspaper but local politicians have mixed feelings on how he plans to attain his goal. Zell wants to sell the park to the State of Illinois for $1 to make it a more attractive prospect for investors. If the state owns the park, it can revamp the park for cheaper because it can take loans out at lower rates and Illinois taxpayers can bear the burden in their taxes. So, what is not to like for an investor....you can get a new team and a new park and not have to pay property tax? But, we also take a look at the Wrigley family...the candy moguls who have not paid for the naming rights to the park in over a century. Zell says it is time they step up to the plate to keep the name. Go watch the new video and let your Illinois reporter what you think about Wrigley?
