Yes, Red State voters (for lack of a better nickname for the cohort) should be angry and bitter, but the pity is that their rage and bitterness will be directed at Blue State voters rather than the "conservative" political operatives who have betrayed them. I grew up in Kansas City MO, graduated from KU, and I happen to know that Kansans used to be able to think things through. Against abortion? Reach out personally to troubled pregnant women rather than vote for morally bankrupt "conservatives" hoping they will stack the Supreme Court with justices who pass a particular ideological litmus test and eventually take away every woman's ability to use a medical procedure for private purposes -- just one example of the "Heartland's" failure to think for themselves. We so-called "Liberals" are angry and bitter, too, and we have also failed our country by drifting away from politics as a force for beneficial change.
