VIDEO:  About Florida... in 2000

If you still cringe whenever you hear the word chad, you aren't alone. In fact, you need to watch this vlog about how eight years later, people are still talking about Florida in 2000.

You should feel sorry for Florida voters. The state of Florida has been repeatedly disenfranchised. It's okay for New Hampshire state law to stipulate that their primary be first, but when Florida changes its law? We don't get any delegates. And then we get a scandal. And then we get half our votes.

Shantel,

I felt the same way when I saw Al Gore on stage with Obama in Detroit last week. I was pissed off, however, because of comments that Obama made in reference to Hilary Clinton.

To paraphrase: "The reason the primary took so long is because Hilary Clinton is tough. She's a fighter. We need fighters in the Democratic Party."

I was pissed because there sat Al "Nobel Peace Prize Winner" Gore, the man who didn't fight for the 2000 election! He complained about hanging chads in one Florida county when there was clear evidence that thousands of Black and Latino voters were illegally removed from voter rolls across the Sunshine State!

Why didn't Al Gore fight for the American people who voted for him? Forget the chads. What about being told you're a convicted felon when you've never had so much as a parking ticket??

I feel the same way whenever I see John Kerry, another Democratic nominee who didn't fight when there was evidence of vote tampering in Ohio. When is somebody going to get a backbone?

Does Obama have one? We'll see, because it's gonna get ugly. America is not the colorblind nation many think it is. I predict that between now and January, we'll see the worst and best sides of the United States.

Let's hope someone is willing to fight for justice and stand up to those who would spit on the Constitution, on our democracy and on the lives of our soldiers just so a few fat cats can get richer and richer.
