Australia Funds its first PlayPump!

Great news from the PlayPumps International community: Australia has funded its first PlayPump® water system! It looks like there is also sufficient money to fund the first Skyhydrant™ water purification unit.
One Water, created by Duncan Goose, donates the profits from sales of its bottled water to fund PlayPump® water systems. Just a few years since its launch in the UK, One Water has achieved great success, donating more than 100 PlayPump® systems. Last year they leveraged this momentum, entering into the global marketplace, including the U.S. and Australia.
One Water's Australian success story began with a media campaign launched in collaboration with Group M and Text 100 in January 2009, involving some 20 staff. University shops were the first to stock One Water in Australia. With lots of interest from retail suppliers, this will be the first of many Playpump® systems donated by One Water Australia.
For now, this means a few thousand more people will have life’s most basic need, clean safe drinking water, and that they might sleep easier and the kids might go to school.
One Foundation's Paul Robinson agreed to let us post his shout out to the team that made it happen: Fantastic news is that Australia has now funded it’s first playpump! This is truly awesome news and a huge credit to the people who have worked so hard to make this happen. In particular Group M (too many to mention, but Genelle, Katie, Bruce, James P, Steady.....just scratching the surface), Text 100 (Antonia, Niki, Dorothy, Sophie B....again just a few of the great team), Mick and Matt for the hard ground work, Tony Sharples for the most amazing marketing material and organising the filming for the advert (truly a gifted man who can do a months work in a day) and Alicen, Creel and Symon for picking up the baton, particularly Alicen who is now working so hard to build on everyone's great start. And with new member to the team like Sonay, who actually spent her Friday night, starting at midnight on the phone to Australian Universities (awesome effort) we are set to go from strength to strength.
I know I will have missed people out, but just to say I know it has been a long hard start and has taken a bit longer than all of us might have hoped, but we are really starting to get traction and with luck I am seeing us funding a pump a month soon and then a pump a week. For now we can all feel proud that a few thousand more people will have life’s most basic need, clean safe drinking water, and that they might sleep easier and the kids might go to school. And all thanks to well intentioned Australian consumers.
