PlayPumps International U.S. is very pleased to announce that long-standing partner Duncan Goose, founder of Global Ethics and One Water, received the 2009 London & South East Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award (EOY).
As many of you know, Duncan’s UK-based One Water has been instrumental in helping PlayPumps install PlayPump® water systems throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Launched in 2005, all profits from One Water sales go directly to building PlayPump® water systems. One Water believes in the power of clean water for children and communities. "When you drink ONE, Africa drinks two."
In fact, Global Ethics just funded its 300th pump!
And this isn’t the first time Duncan’s example has been recognized. In recognition of World Water Day 2008, PlayPumps International presented Duncan with an International Hero award for his instrumental role and continuing efforts to bring clean drinking water to schools and communities in need.
Duncan’s past awards have also included the 2007 Beacon Fellowship Award, and recognition in the first ever Greatest Britons Awards ceremony in 2007, where he received his award alongside Queen of England, Dame Helen Mirren, David Beckham, Banksy, Ricky Gervais, Giles Deacon and Sir Ranulph Fiennes.
According to Ernst & Young, EOY recognizes the “passion and drive behind entrepreneurial businesses, whether private or listed, family-owned or private equity backed, across all commercial and industrial sectors and at any stage of business development.”
From our perspective, Duncan’s dedication reflects that passion and drive, which we’ve come to expect from all members of the PlayPumps International community – from corporate leaders and celebrities to school teachers and inspiring young people.
