The Cheesehead vote is in, and Obama and McCain prevailed. Neither of these victories came as a huge surprise though, instead the results effectively mirror the national trend. With Hawaii, Obama takes 10 marching to the 4th, and most people can (if they haven’t already) stop pretending like there’s competition in the Republican race.
But just because Wisconsin’s results mirror the latest political wave doesn’t mean there isn’t any fluctuation inside the crest (great analogy huh?). Throughout the day, I took a few exit poll questions from the youth across the state. Here’s what they had to say:
Neal Omera, Wauwatosa WI
Voted for: Ron Paul
Why: “It’s because of his message of responsible government. It makes a lot of sense to me, more than anything else. He respects the constitution and not wanting the government to waste all our money.”
Greg Stanley, Green Bay WI
Voted for: Barack Obama
Why: “He’s more moderate than Hillary, he’s not extreme either way, and for the primary that’s all I’m looking for.”
Mike Feldman, La Crosse WI
Voted for: Barack Obama
“Because I’m uneducated and I just wanted to fit in…no I’m just kidding. I was torn between him and Clinton. I don’t know if I’m going to vote for him in the long run though, his ideas are so extreme they just might not even pass.”
Erin, Madison WI
Voted for: Mike Huckabee
“I voted for Mike Huckabee [because] I was born in Arkansas and I’ve seen him and all the stuff that he’s done and my family was also really involved with him when he was working there.”
