It is time for a new Amendment to the Constitution. The current system for electing the President of the United States using the electoral college is outdated and just plain confusing. It was not until the 17th Amendment was passed that there was a direct election of the Senate. It is time that the 28th Amendment be added to the Constitution so that the President of the United States of America may be elected directly by the people for the people. Who's with me?!

What is the point in having a democratic form of government, if only a few hundred people (i.e the members of the electorates) actually need to vote. When there are only two viable candidates the popular vote does make a difference. In 2000, Al Gore won the popular vote, yet Bush became President, if the President were elected by popular vote only, there would be no more disputes. Does anyone else think that Bush's rise to power could have been a Coup by the Republican Party?
