Innovative Solutions to Poverty are badly needed in a world where half of all humanity lives on less than $2 a day. Even with the growth of new approaches, like microfinance, 2.5 billion people lack access to critical financial services that can help them feed and educate their children, stabilize their communities, and work their way out of poverty. The challenge is clear. As Nelson Mandela said, "Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life." We will tell you about the innovative efforts of the Village Banking Campaign, and we hope to hear about your efforts as well.

Discussion: To put an End to global poverty!

I was just wondering if one was thinking like me but since I live in Iowa for about 3-4 solid months there were presidental canidates ads!  That is millions of dollars that could go to stop global poverty and to stop genocide!

But they don't think of that becuase they want to be president!  I personaly would like a president that dosn't only think of himself and tried to stop some of the worlds worst problems.  I bet the presidental canidates don't ever have to worry about that stuff, in fact I know they don't!

It bothers me ALOT and I would love to hear other peoples oppinions about that too.

I hear that. It gets overly complicated when things really are so simple.

I can agree with that. Politicians at the highest levels tend to lie and do basically whatever it takes to make it into office. They don't really want to do anything that will ruin their reputation. I think what we really need to do is not focus on the people at the highest levels. People in our communities like schools, churches, mayor's offices, and State Reps are the people to target to gain support and enough momentum to make a help us make a difference.

I agree. It's ridiculous that our leaders' priorities are so skewed.
