Teens suspended for advocating safe sex.
Posted February 08, 2008 at 1:22 PM

I had to post about these two sassy girls when I saw their story in my RSS Reader.  Two teens from St. Louis were suspended last week for wearing condom-embellished shirts promoting safe sex. The girls wore the shirt in protest of the schools abstinence only sex education saying that since they're moving up to the high school and are becoming more mature they need a more comprehensive sex education. Well, duh right? Unfortunately the school's superintendent thought the shirts were a "distraction" and "inappropriate." Isn't it sad when 14 and 15 year old girls are smarter than the people in charge of creating their curriculum?

they were smart enough to contact the media and get their protest heard beyond their school, that's for sure.

I agree with what they are saying, however if people do not plan properly and set a time for the protest and follow the governing laws to protect their rights, then they will actually be defeating the purpose and at times will not be heard, however in this case it did get them in the news and perhaps, it will promote change in their community!

 Peace and God Bless!
