Help Fight Global Poverty by Empowering a Low-Income Entrepreneur

****PLEASE wait 1-3 business days to receive your certificate

Think MTV and Kiva are teaming up to help you fight global poverty. Kiva.org is a non-profit organization that enables people like you to make small loans, or microloans, to low income entrepreneurs so they can empower themselves to earn their way out of poverty.

By supporting the Kiva profile on Think.mtv.com, you will receive a FREE $25 Kiva certificate that you can loan to any entrepreneur on the Kiva site.

Use this loan to help a farmer in Guatamala, a restaurant owner in Uganda or a baker in Lebanon start and sustain their businesses to help themselves, their families, and their communities. This is a REAL way you can help REAL people.  Start right now.

Re: secprog 276 days ago

did you get your certificate?

brianetics 276 days ago

Hmmm. If this offer is no longer being honored, perhaps it should be notated as such. 3 days have passed and.... nothing in my inbox.

Re: lo6328 276 days ago

Yeah, so far I didn't get mine either.  It's being advertised on the main page of this site so I don't think it's expired.  Hmm...

Re: Bringo 275 days ago

it has been many days for me too. no certificate. i feel a bit baited... :( Is this promo still going on? I f not they should pull the page or make it clear that the promo is over.

I've made 2 loans to Kiva and it feels great to be able to help someone in the world I don't know.  Thanks for giving me another opportunity to support Kiva and its entrepreneurs.

For those who wants to help, Intel has partnered with Kiva and will donate 25 cents on your behalf per click.  All you have to do is go to www.smallthingschallenge.com and click on the button "We'll Donate 25 Cents For You".

Guys those who didn't receive the gift certificate click the email account link at the top of the page, you will see the code number.

Redeem your gift certificate here: https://www.kiva.org/redeem

Enter the number [code number you see in your mtv email, not your regular email] in the “Gift Code” field

Enter think@mtv.com in “Email of Purchaser” field

That's it you will be all set.

This is a little sad on MTV's part. I signed up before they posted it was over, and then they didnt send me an email. Then they ended it earlier than they were supposed to.

I signed up for this prior to the end of the promotion and haven't received an email.

Feb 11, 2009: I signed up on MTV/Think and this promotion on Jan 31, 2009.  I received an MTV message in my inbox here on how to redeem the gift certificate on Feb 6th 2009.  I redeemed the gift certificate today, Feb 11, 2009.  I am ready to loan!

I also acted when the offer was still posted as valid - 3 Feb.  I waited.  Thia morning I got this:

Dear Think Member,

Thank you so much for your interest in the Kiva.org Gift Certificate Giveaway and in supporting this program. At Think, we strive to create awareness and drive support for organizations like Kiva. To date, $25,000 total in Kiva Gift Certificates have been given away to Think users so they can take part in empowering developing world entrepreneurs to lift themselves out of poverty. Unfortunately, at this point in time we’ve exhausted our supply of Kiva gift codes, due to overwhelming interest in the promotion.

As you know, Kiva greatly depends on the support of people like you. We sincerely look forward to your continued participation in Kiva lending and your commitment to making a positive impact on our global community.

Sincerely,

Think MTV

If the offer was limited to $25,000, it should have been indicated.  I would have no problem with that. I do have a problem with broken promises and unfulfilled commitments.

It's very sad and I am disappointed.
