- Listen to stories surrounding the issues that young veterans are facing today.
- Write to your Senators or Representative to tell them that you want to fight for the rights of young veterans
Learn the right things to say when writing your Representative or Senator. - Support the bill that will give veterans the healthcare benefits they deserve after returning from the fight
- Some soldiers are being forced by the Department of Defense to give back their enlistment bonuses because they were discharged as the result of an injury. Tell Congress you won't stand for that
- Organize an event in your community for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America
- Find an organization in your community that helps homeless vets and find out what you can do to help those who are left behind
- Help ensure homeless vets receive proper military honors when they die
- Lend disabled veterans a ride, who otherwise have no means of transportation, to a hospital or treatment facility for their therapy
- Send troops and veterans books, DVDs, CDs, and relief (http://booksforsoldiers.com/) supplies
- Help injured vets recuperating at Walter Reed Army Medical Center by providing them with free car rentals, cab vouchers, hotel rooms, apartments, job mentoring and internship programs and free tickets to cultural and sporting events.
- Help raise money to build homes for injured vets and their families
- Help provide resources and leadership experiences for young people who have lost a parent in the war
- Help provide support for families who have lost a loved one in Iraq or Afghanistan, as well as help provide the facilities need for injured veterans to rehabilitate
- Help the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America provide resources for young veterans
- Volunteer at a USO facility near you
- Help disabled vets take care of their landscaping and yard work
- Write a note to thank the troops and veterans for their service
