Ok, so what is up with us feeling the need to use the term "bromance" to describe a close friendship between two guys? Yeah, it sounds funny and is slightly sardonic, but it still carries sarcastic undertones. We even see it's use in this show's "Dailies". Why is it that we, as a culture, feel the need to create and use such a term? One which carries a tongue-in-cheek allusion to it being a gay relationship. Are we that uncomfortable with the notion that two men, regardless of their sexual preference, could form a close bond that doesn't involve sex? Are we as a culture afraid to admit that you can retain your masculinity and still care for another person of your gender?
What are your thoughts?
