Beyond the economics of a school switching to high tech gadgets, there is the question of what is actually better for the environment?

I found a site that discusses how much energy and pollution is generated by a 100 watt light bulb using coal power. The site points out that to power the light bulb for a year puts out 1852 pounds of carbon dioxide. http://science.howstuffworks.com/question481.htm

When you look at how much energy is used to power a 100 watt light bulb for a year, and how much pollution comes from that, you have to wonder which has more impact on the environment, powering and charging all those tech gadgets, or paper?

If someone knows of some numbers actually comparing the two, I would like to see it.
