Voting Registration Info!
Posted September 17, 2008 at 11:37 AM

Where do I register to vote? How can I register absentee? Can I register right at the polls? If you’ve got these questions, then we’ve got the answers: check out the resources below so you’ll be in the know and ready to mark your ballot on November 4.

How Do I Get Registered?
If you are at home for the election, then simply mail-in your registration or register on-line; or you can go to your post office, department of motor vehicle office, or county polling office, and register in person. Find out how to register at Declare Yourself so you can participate in this historic event!

But What If I'm Away From Home?
On Election Day, a lot of students find themselves at college or doing study abroad programs in another country. With that said, there’s no reason why you still can’t participate in the ’08 election. Go Vote Absentee can help you get a ballot in your home away from home.

What Rights Do I Have As A Student Voter?
New York University’s Brennan Center For Justice has an FAQ for student voters who may have concerns about the financial and tax implications associated with casting a ballot back home. They also provide a map with absentee voting information for all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Do I Have to Register By A Certain Date?
While many deadlines are one month before the election (on October 4) each state may also have special rules about walk-in registration, on-line registration, and so on. Below is a state-by-state list for mail-in registration, as well as any special rules each state may have. Make sure you are in the know!
