Senators John McCain and Barack Obama participated in a forum hosted by Service Nation and shared their views and vision on service and civic engagement in the post-9/11 and post-Katrina America. Part 1: Introduction of John McCain to ServiceForum
The Republican nominee talks about preventing a reoccurence of the 2001 terrorist attacks by reengaging the nation in their government, and expresses confidence that reengagement can happen with with government reform.


Part 2: Service In The Military
Senator McCain talks about the importance of strengthing and offering more support to the US Military as a way for young Americans to serve the country.


Part 3: Government's Role In Promoting Service
The senator promotes reward and recognition of volunteers for service and helping one's country, but encourages to people to volunteer in the many services that aren't necessarily run by the government


Part 4: What Does It Mean To Be An American?
The senator expresses his belief in the generosity and spirit of American "exceptionlism," why our country has dedicated itself to improving the lives of people around the world, and why service can unite the American people.


Part 5: Re-creating Spirit Of Volunteerism
The Democratic nominee talks about how to reengage the American people in service with the spirit that captured and united the country after the 2001 terrorist attacks as well as to restore mutual civic responbility among Americans.


Part 6: People And Government Serving Together
The Illinois senator talks about the role of government in service and volunteer programs and and how the government can help inspire people to affect change through those programs.


Part 7: How To Encourage Military Service
The senator encourages people to serve in the military, in peacetime or during war, but also wants to see a additional role for non-military service.


Part 8: A Non-Partisan Approach To Service
Senator Obama talks about how approaching service should cross party lines and engage everyone - Republicans, Democrats, Independents - in order to bring people together and realize their full potential through American "exceptionalism."
