More than two million Americans can’t tell the difference between reality and a scary hallucination. That’s the daily reality for people living with Schizophrenia - a debilitating brain disease that blurs the line between what’s real and what’s in your head. In this episode  youmeet three young people doing their best to live with a disorder that will be with them forever.

Joshhas been in and out of mental hospitals for years but refuses to take prescription pills to control his symptoms. Instead he tries to self-medicate by smoking pot, which only worsens his paranoia and delusions.

Benis finally getting better after years of medication. But now his father and grandfather both have cancer and Ben’s worried the stress will cause him to relapse.

Amberwas a straight-A student until paranoid schizophrenia derailed her college plans. Now she’s back on track and starting school again, but the stress of a full course load could trigger a setback.

How may I get a copy of this episode? My wife works for the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center (MPRC) providing treatment to patients with schizophrenia and related disorders.
